The Mesa County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Oct. 11 that the human head and hands that were found in a newly purchased home in Grand Junction, Colo., earlier this year belonged to 16-year-old Amanda Overstreet,

The Mesa County Sheriff's Office said they responded nine months ago on Jan. 12 to a call about a "suspicious incident."

When a new Colorado homeowner gave away an appliance that had been left behind by the previous owner, the person picking it up made a grisly discovery in the freezer.

A human head and hand found in a freezer early this year have been identified as belonging to a 16-year-old Colorado girl who disappeared in 2005, authorities said.

The remains of Amanda Overstreet were discovered when new home owners were clearing out items from a house they had recently purchased.

"Through DNA testing, the victim is identified as Amanda Leariel Overstreet, who was 16 at the time of her disappearance," Police said. "Overstreet has not been seen or heard from since April 2005."
