For the first time, liquor stores in Colorado could stay open on Christmas. It's part of a new law that went into effect this year. In May, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed a bill into law allowing liquor stores to stay open on the holiday. Until now, it was the only day of the year they were required to keep closed.

FOX31's Gabrielle Franklin spoke with the owner of a liquor store as they experience the first Christmas Day being open after a new law was put into effect.

Business was steady throughout the day at Argonaut, which stayed open while grocery store King Soopers was closed on Wednesday.

It could be a white Christmas after all in Colorado’s high country. A wide swath of the state from Telluride to Winter Park could receive between 1 and 4 inches of snow Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. Vail, Aspen and Steamboat Spring could see between 1 and 2 inches, forecasters said.

The Denver area will likely miss out on a white Christmas, but those heading up to the mountains can likely see some snow on Christmas Day. Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Alden German shares how long the mild weather will continue.
