Meta Platforms' Facebook and Instagram were largely restored for most users after an outage that impacted thousands in the U.S. on Monday, according to outage tracking website Downdetector.com.

Facebook and Instagram both experienced outages on Monday, according to the web site Downdetector. There were more than 8,000 incidents of people reporting issues with Facebook and over 4,000 reports of issues with Instagram as of 1:44 p.

While much of the massive suit against social media companies lives on, a federal judge still found that several of the states' liability claims were barred by the Communications Decency Act.
