Menorah lighting in Delmar’s Four Corners helps kick off Hanukkah
The Bethlehem Chabad hosted a menorah lighting Wednesday evening to commemorate the first night of Hanukkah. Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish holiday celebrating the resurrection of the holy temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean revolt in the second century BCE.
Hanukkah is known as the Festival of Lights. It celebrates a miracle when a small amount of oil lasted for eight nights.
The community came together on the first night of Hanukkah for a special ceremony in Squirrel Hill on Wednesday.
