Early voting turnout started strong in the presidential battleground of North Carolina, even in the mountains where Hurricane Helene’s flooding three weeks ago destroyed lives and property — but not the desire to participate in elections.

Authorities have arrested a man in western North Carolina who allegedly threatened to harm FEMA employees working on Hurricane Helene recovery efforts.

FEMA said on Tuesday that it has continued its door-to-door visits in North Carolina following allegations of threats to its personnel in some locations that were hit by Hurricane Helene.
