Out of nowhere, James receives a mysterious letter from Mary herself, claiming that she’s waiting for him in their "special place" — a spot in the quiet town of Silent Hill where they once vacationed.

Silent Hill 2 is full of layers upon layers of symbolism and imagery, and the remake doesn't peel any of these layers away. If anything, more is added, significantly improving the story that unfolds.
