Searching for salvation far away from NHL arenas, Tristan Jarry’s phone never stopped ringing. The calls were coming from inside his old house. Now he’s back, looking quite at home, and those calls — check-ins from Pittsburgh Penguins teammates — were as beneficial as any goaltending drill or mental exercise he undertook during a couple of months in the AHL.

The Penguins had an upset victory last night, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 in overtime. Jarry made 35 saves in the win, as the Penguins got out-shot 37-17.

Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry is scheduled to start Thursday’s home game against the St. Louis Blues at PPG Paints Arena. Coach Mike Sullivan announced Jarry’s status during an optional morning skate in Cranberry.

Tristan Jarry’s career was at a crossroads in mid-January. The Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender was struggling and even worse, the franchise’s faith in him appeared to be shot.
