Heavy rainfall lashed Tamil Nadu’s Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Chengalpattu districts, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls on Tuesday.

Heavy rains battered Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday as the India Meteorological Department issued a warning about a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, saying that it is likely to turn into a depression.

Since Monday night, Chennai and its suburbs, including those in the nearby Tiruvallur district, have been experiencing intermittent rains.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has directed information technology (IT) companies in the state to implement work-from-home policies till October 18. The decision comes after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a severe weather warning, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu over the next three days.
