(WNDU) - The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) announced the matchups for the sectional round of the state football playoffs on Sunday evening. Below are the sectionals involving our local schools. Sectional play begins Oct. 25 for classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A, while classes 5A and 6A will begin their postseasons on Nov. 1.

The Indiana High School Athletic Association released its sectional pairings on Sunday night. In 5A, both the Terre Haute South Braves and Terre Haute North Patriots will host the sectional semifinals on November 1st.

There are currently seven teams from the Evansville area ranked in the USA Today Network Indiana media poll. The following are the defending sectional champions locally: North (5A), Memorial (now in 3A), Gibson Southern (3A), Heritage Hills (3A) and North Posey (2A).
