Islamabad and New Delhi should put the past behind them and “live like good neighbours”, said former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, reported India Today.

EAM Dr S Jaishankar travelled to Pakistan to attend the SCO Summit in Islamabad. He did not hold any formal bilateral meeting with Pakistan, however, did have informal conversations during dinner or lunch.

India and Pakistan should "bury" the past and look at the future to live like good neighbours, former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday, in remarks seen as an attempt to reach out to New Delhi following Indian foreign minister S Jaishankar's trip to Islamabad this week.

Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister of Pakistan, said he was not pleased by the ‘long pause’ in the relationship between the two countries.

He said former Pakistan PM “Imran Khan used words that destroyed the relationship. As leaders of two countries and neighbours, we should not even think let alone utter such words.
