Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin accused Governor RN Ravi of breaching constitutional protocol after he walked out of the assembly without delivering his address due to the omission of the National Anthem.

Chennai: A by now familiar scene played out in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Monday with Governor R N Ravi leaving the House without delivering his customary address on the opening day of the first session of the year,

Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker M. Appavu on Monday (January 6, 2025) maintained that the issue raised by Governor R.N. Ravi over the playing of the national anthem in February 2024 — during the first Assembly session of that year — had already been “resolved”.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi walked out of the Assembly on Monday, after the National Anthem was not played following the rendition of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu (Tamil Invocation Song). The incident unfolded during the Governor's customary address to the House at the commencement of the Assembly session.
