Post the Ninja Gaiden 4 announcement, Xbox's chief shares the company's enduring push for a new sequel in the long-running action series.

This week, Digital Foundry has been back at it, testing out the recent Ninja Gaiden 2 Black remaster that shadow dropped onto Xbox Game Pass last month. In short, DF says that this new version of the Xbox 360 classic "isn't perfect - but it's the best version yet", which we'll absolutely take.

During the Xbox Developer Direct January 2025, Koei Tecmo surprised-dropped Ninja Gaiden 2 Black for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. The game is also available on Xbox Game Pass.

Xbox kicked January off with a banger Developer_Direct presentation, and yes, Ninja Gaiden 4 is real and is coming to Xbox Game Pass.

In fact, it's a rare occurrence for a title on Game Pass to even have PS5 controller support since a lot of them don't have allowances for different button glyphs to appear on screen. Thankfully, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black's settings allow you to completely swap out the typical X, Y, B, and A buttons for PlayStation's.

Ninja Gaiden is one of the most popular and longest-enduring ninja game franchises. Ryu Hayabusa's exploits began in the arcades in 1988 and have continued across numerous console generations. The modern trilogy of Ninja Gaiden games began with the reboot in 2004.
