Nigeria captain William Troost-Ekong spoke on behalf of the team and said that Nigeria would boycott the match and urged CAF (Confederation of African Football) to take action against Libya. But either way, the team was willing to forfeit the match.

Nigeria’s soccer players say they will boycott their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Libya after being stranded overnight at Al Abraq Airport in what the team captain described as “mind games”.

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) said Nigeria were to blame for the postponement of Tuesday's scheduled Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Benghazi after the visitors refused to play the match citing mistreatment on arrival in the country.
