Updating maps of Southern California show where wildfires, including the Palisades and Eaton fires, are burning across Los Angeles.

Eaton Fire initially started 6:18 p.m. Jan. 7 in Los Angeles County. Since its discovery a week ago, it has burned 14,117 acres. A fire crew of 3,392 has been working on site and, as of Tuesday evening, they managed to contain 35% of the fire. However, investigations into the cause are ongoing.

Additional water tankers and scores of firefighters arrived at the Los Angeles area on Monday ahead of fierce winds that were forecast to return and threaten the progress made so far on two massive infernos that have destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people.

Before one of the most destructive fires in California history swept through, the Pacific Palisades neighborhood on Los Angeles' west side was filled with expensive homes fronted by green, well-tended landscaping and popular boutiques and cafes.

Parts of Los Angeles are still burning from multiple wildfires. Some evacuated residents returned to their homes to find nothing but rubble.

A beefed-up firefighting force was staged around Los Angeles to attack flare-ups or new blazes and anxious residents were prepared for the worst as dangerous winds were expected to build Tuesday, a week after two massive infernos destroyed thousands of homes and killed at least 24 people.
